AN ACT relating to public highways; directing the Department of Transportation, Clark County and the City of Las Vegas to conduct certain assessments concerning the need for the abatement of traffic noise; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1    Section 1. 1.  The Department of Transportation and Clark County

1-2  shall conduct a study of the abatement of traffic noise in Clark County. The

1-3  study must include an assessment of the need for the abatement of traffic

1-4  noise on both sides of U.S. Interstate No. 515 from Charleston Boulevard

1-5  to Russell Road.

1-6    2.  The Department of Transportation and the City of Las Vegas shall

1-7  conduct an assessment of the need for the abatement of traffic noise along

1-8  those sections of U.S. Interstate No. 515 and U.S. Interstate No. 95 that lie

1-9  within the boundaries of the City of Las Vegas.

1-10    3.  The results of the assessments conducted pursuant to this section

1-11  must be reported to the Director of the Legislative Counsel Bureau on or

1-12  before February 1, 2003, for transmittal to the 72nd session of the

1-13  Legislature. Each report must include a plan for the abatement of traffic

1-14  noise, including the construction of sound barriers where required.

1-15    Sec. 2.  This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
