The Committee on State Revenue and Education Fundingwas called to order at 6:15 p.m., on Saturday, June 7, 2003, behind the Bar of the Assembly by Chairman Morse Arberry Jr.

• BDR 32-12 – Makes various changes concerning state financial administration.  (A.B. 1)

 

Chairman Arberry announced to the members he would accept a motion to introduce BDR 32‑12, which related to financial administration of state government.

 

Assemblywoman Giunchigliani explained this bill draft included the language from S. B. 2 and S. B. 3, as well as staff adjustments to the Distributive School Account based on final tax closings between the Senate and the Assembly.

 

Mr. Hettrick noted he had reviewed the rules and had conferred with the Speaker.  If members of the Committee voted for introduction of this bill draft, they would not be committed to vote for the measure when it was discussed during the floor session.

 

Mrs. Angle stated she was against this bill draft, as it should not include the tax package in the same bill as the funding for education.  Ms. Giunchigliani pointed out that the budget must be balanced according to the Constitution of the State of Nevada.

 

ASSEMBLYWOMAN GIUNCHIGLIANI MOVED TO INTRODUCE BDR 32-12.

 

VICE CHAIRMAN PARKS SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

THE MOTION CARRIED WITH ASSEMBLYMEN GRIFFIN, ANDONOV, MARVEL, GRADY, BROWN, HETTRICK AND ASSEMBLYWOMEN ANGLE AND GIBBONS VOTING NO.

 

There being no further business before the Committee, Chairman Arberry declared the meeting adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
