AN ACT making an appropriation to the Governor for support of the Nevada Commission for National and Community Service; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1  Section 1. 1.  There is hereby appropriated from the State

1-2  General Fund to the Governor the sum of $365,000 to grant to the

1-3  Nevada Commission for National and Community Service for use as

1-4  matching money to obtain additional federal funding to continue its

1-5  programs dedicated to promoting citizen volunteerism.

1-6  2.  Upon acceptance of the money appropriated by subsection 1,

1-7  the Nevada Commission for National and Community Service shall:

1-8  (a) Prepare and transmit a report to the Interim Finance

1-9  Committee on or before December 15, 2004, that describes each

1-10  expenditure made from the money appropriated by subsection 1

1-11  from the date on which the money was received by the Nevada

1-12  Commission for National and Community Service through

1-13  December 1, 2004; and

1-14      (b) Upon request of the Legislative Commission, make available

1-15  to the Legislative Auditor any of the books, accounts, claims,

1-16  reports, vouchers or other records of information, confidential or


2-1  otherwise of the Nevada Commission for National and Community

2-2  Service regardless of their form or location, that the Legislative

2-3  Auditor deems necessary to conduct an audit of the use of the

2-4  money appropriated pursuant to subsection 1.

2-5  Sec. 2.  Any remaining balance of the appropriation made by

2-6  section 1 of this act must not be committed for expenditure after

2-7  June 30, 2005, and reverts to the State General Fund as soon as all

2-8  payments of money committed have been made.

2-9  Sec. 3.  This act becomes effective upon passage and approval

2-10  and applies retroactively to July 1, 2003.
