The Assembly Committee on Commerce met in the Assembly Chambers at the desk of Chairman Porter on June 30, 1993, at 3:00 p.m.  A two-thirds majority was present.  The Chairman called for a motion on the following bills.

 

AB 513      Makes various changes relating to practice of physical therapy.

 

      ASSEMBLYMAN ARBERRY MOVED AMEND AND DO PASS.

 

      ASSEMBLYMAN WILLIAMS SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

      THE MOTION CARRIED, WITH ASSEMBLYMEN AUGUSTINE, GIUNCHIGLIANI, KENNY AND PERKINS VOTING NO, AND ASSEMBLYMAN PERKINS ABSTAINING.

 

 

AB 681      Expands limitation on civil liability of owner or keeper of certain public accommodations for property left on premises.

 

      ASSEMBLYMAN GARNER MOVED AMEND AND DO PASS.

 

      ASSEMBLYMAN GIUNCHIGLIANI SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

      THE MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.

 

 

 

AB 745      Revises fee charged fraternal benefit societies for certificate of authority to issue benefit contracts.

 

      ASSEMBLYMAN SCHERER MOVED AMEND AND DO PASS.

 

      ASSEMBLYMAN HUMKE SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

      THE MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.

     

 

SB 198      Requires continuing education as condition of renewal of certification of certified shorthand reporter.

 

      ASSEMBLYMAN SCHERER MOVED DO PASS.

 

      ASSEMBLYMAN HUMKE SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

      THE MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.

SB 545      Provides duties and liabilities of financial planners.
