The Assembly Committee on Education was called to order by Chairman Wendell P. Williams at 11:15 a.m., on Monday, February 22, 1993, at his desk on the Assembly floor of the Legislative Building, Carson City, Nevada.

COMMITTEE MEMBERS ABSENT:

Chairman Williams requested committee introduction of the following Bill Draft Requests:
BDR 34-94 - Require training for newly elected or appointed members of school boards.
BDR R-419 - Urge Nevada public schools to participate in Department of Education's school improvement project.
BDR R-421 - Urge local school districts to establish daily class schedules that include fixed period of uninterrupted teaching.
BDR 40-422 - Require informed consent of parent before child is placed on certain medication.
BDR R-423 - Urge State Board of Education to adopt policy of cooperative diagnosis and treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
BDR 34-424 - Require State Board of Education to establish diagnostic referral network for children suspected of having Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
BDR 34-425 - Create fund for the enhancement of occupational education in grades 9 through 12.
BDR 34-426 - Require State Board of Education to establish course of study relating to home and occupational skills.
BDR R-427 - Express legislature's support of National Education Goals and urge State Board of Education to adopt goals.
BDR 34-446 - Specify responsibility of school district to provide crossing guards for schools within district.
BDR 34-473 - Require University of Nevada System to provide free parking for staff at all facilities.
BDR 34-557 - Require that agent must represent accredited institution to receive permit from commission on postsecondary education.
BDR 34-558 - Increases and add new fees imposed by Commission on Postsecondary Education.
BDR 34-770 - Specifies number of persons to be appointed to list of hearing officers maintained by State Board of Education.
