The Assembly Committee on Transportation was called to order by Chairman Larry L. Spitler, at 10:35 p.m., on Thursday, July 1, 1993, at his desk, in the Assembly Chambers of the Legislative Building, Carson City, Nevada.

SENATE BILL NO. 561:   Authorized certain persons who hold certificate                        of public convenience and necessity to lease                         taxicab to independent contractor.  

 

      MR. ANDERSON MOVED TO DO PASS S.B. 561.

 

      MR. COLLINS SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

      MOTION CARRIED BY VOICE VOTE.

 

SENATE BILL NO. 528:    Authorizes court in certain counties to                              require person convicted of driving under the                          influence of intoxicating liquor or controlled                          substance to visit trauma center or certain                          other facilities.

 

      MR. TOOMIN MOVED TO DO PASS S.B. 528.

 

      MR. GARNER SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

      MOTION CARRIED BY MAJORITY VOTE. (MR. COLLINS, MR. HETTRICK,          AND MR. MCGAUGHEY VOTED NO.)

 

SENATE BILL NO. 498:  Makes various changes regarding heavy-duty and                        other motor vehicles which are in an unsafe                          condition or in violation of certain statutory                        or regulatory requirements.

     

      MRS. CHOWNING MOVED TO DO PASS S.B. 498.

 

      MR. GARNER SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

      MOTION CARRIED BY VOICE VOTE.

 

ASSEMBLY BILL NO. 157:  Makes various changes relating to driver's                           licenses and registration and insurance for                          motor vehicles.

 

      MR. GARNER MOVED TO CONCUR WITH SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1270 TO A.B. 157.

 

      MRS. CHOWNING SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

      MOTION CARRIED BY MAJORITY VOTE. (MR. COLLINS VOTED NO.)

 

With no further business, Chairman adjourned the meeting at 10:59 p.m.
