The Senate Committee on Commerce and Labor was called to order by Chairman Randolph J. Townsend, at 10:13 a.m., on Friday, July 2, 1993, on the Senate floor of the Legislative Building, Carson City, Nevada.  There was no Meeting Agenda.  There was no Attendance Roster.

ASSEMBLY BILL 784:      Expands limitation on civil liability of owner or keeper of certain public accommodations for property left on premises.

 

      SENATOR NEVIN MOVED TO DO PASS A.B. 784.

 

      SENATOR BROWN SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

      THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATOR McGINESS WAS ABSENT FOR THE VOTE.)

Senator Townsend then opened discussion on Senate Bill (S.B.) 247.

 

SENATE BILL 247:  Makes various changes to provisions governing practice of optometry.

 

      SENATOR NEVIN MOVED TO CONCUR WITH AMENDMENT NO. 1226 TO S.B. 247.

 

      SENATOR SHAFFER SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

      THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATOR McGINNESS WAS ABSENT FOR THE VOTE.)

Discussion was then taken on Senate Bill (S.B.) 555.

 

SENATE BILL 555:  Exempts nonprofit corporations that provide prepaid ambulance services from regulation by commissioner of insurance under certain circumstances.

 

      SENATOR NEVIN MOVED TO NOT CONCUR WITH AMENDMENT NO. 1359 TO S.B. 555.

 

      SENATOR SHAFFER SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

      THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATOR McGINNESS WAS ABSENT FOR THE VOTE.)

Senator Townsend then opened discussion on Senate Bill (S.B.) 398.

 

SENATE BILL 398:  Makes various changes to provisions relating to disposition of dead human bodies.

 

      SENATOR NEVIN MOVED TO NOT CONCUR WITH AMENDMENT NO. 1345 TO S.B. 398.

 

      SENATOR SHAFFER SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

      THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATOR McGINNESS WAS ABSENT FOR THE VOTE.)
