The Senate Committee on Commerce and Labor was called to order by Chairman Randolph J. Townsend, at 10:38 a.m., on Friday, February 5, 1993, on the Senate floor of the Legislative Building, Carson City, Nevada.  There was no Meeting Agenda.  There was no Attendance Roster.

Chairman Townsend opened the meeting and requested committee introduction of the following bill draft requests (BDRs):

 

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 53-755:    Clarifies which entity certain contractors are to furnish proof of industrial insurance.

     

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 54-622:    Makes various changes relating to licensing of contractors.

 

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 54-621:    Repeals provision authorizing state board of nursing to certify nursing assistants to perform designated acts in medical facilities which provide acute care.

     

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 54-6l5:    Makes various changes to provisions governing certified shorthand reporters.

 

 

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 54-886:    Requires continuing education as condition of renewal of certification of certified shorthand reporter.

 

 

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 43-650:    Makes various changes to protect ownership or other interests upon sale of mobile homes and similar vehicles.

 

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 40-657:    Adopts more recent edition of certain uniform codes for manufactured buildings and authorizes most recent edition of uniform codes to be adopted by regulation.

 

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 53-534:    Revises provisions for determining status as independent contractor for purposes of unemployment compensation.

 

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 54-682:    Provides that records of investigations by private investigator's licensing board are confidential.

 

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 53-907:    Repeals certain restrictions upon information which division of industrial insurance regulation of department of industrial relations may obtain from industrial insurers.

 

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 52-546:    Makes various changes relating to registration of trade-marks and insignia.

 

BILL DRAFT REQUEST S-684:     Delays prospective expiration of provision requiring public utilities to pay assessments for certain expenses incurred by public service commission of Nevada.

 

 

 

      SENATOR NEVIN MOVED FOR COMMITTEE INTRODUCTION OF THE AFOREMENTIONED BILL DRAFT REQUESTS.

 

      SENATOR SHAFFER SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

      THE MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
