      Sixty-seventh Session

The Senate Committee on Human Resources and Facilities was called to order by Chairman Raymond D. Rawson, at 4:43 p.m., on Monday, June 28, 1993, on the Senate floor of the Legislative Building, Carson City, Nevada.  There was no Meeting Agenda.  There was no Attendance Roster.

Chairman Rawson convened the meeting for discussion on Senate Bill (S.B.) 61.

 

SENATE BILL 61:   Eliminates privies and cesspools as acceptable method of sewage disposal.  (BDR 40-629)

 

Following a brief discussion Chairman Rawson requested a motion.

 

      SENATOR COFFIN MOVED NOT TO RECEDE FROM AMENDMENT

      NO. 639 TO S.B. 61.

 

      SENATOR GLOMB SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

      THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATOR TOWNSEND WAS ABSENT FOR THE VOTE.)

Chairman Rawson assigned a first Conference Committee on S.B. 61 consisting of Senators Coffin, O'Donnell and Glomb.

 

The chairman brought up the next order of business, Assembly Bill (A.B.) 444.

 

ASSEMBLY BILL 444:      Makes various changes relating to hospitals.  (BDR 40-606)

 

      SENATOR O'DONNELL MOVED NOT TO RECEDE FROM AMENDMENT

      NO. 1060 TO A.B. 444.

 

      SENATOR NEAL SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

      THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATOR TOWNSEND WAS ABSENT FOR

      THE VOTE.)

Chairman Rawson assigned a first Conference Committee on A.B. 444 consisting of Senators Rawson, O'Donnell and Glomb.

 

The next order of business was Amendment No. 976 to S.B. 60, which was distributed to the members for review. 

 

SENATE BILL 60:   Expands requirement for testing persons arrested for certain sexual offenses for exposure to sexually transmitted diseases.  (BDR 40-664)

 

Following a brief discussion Chairman Rawson requested a motion.

 

      SENATOR NEAL MOVED TO CONCUR WITH AMENDMENT NO. 976

      TO S.B. 60.

 

      SENATOR GLOMB SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

      THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATOR TOWNSEND WAS ABSENT FOR

      THE VOTE.)

Proposed amended language was offered for discussion on A.B. 36 (Exhibit A).

 

ASSEMBLY BILL 36:Eliminates certain restrictions on sale, rental or lease of specified property at site of Las Vegas High School.  (BDR S-693)

 

 

 

      SENATOR COFFIN MOVED TO AMEND AND DO PASS A.B. 36 WITH THE PROPOSED LANGUAGE REFERENCED AS EXHIBIT A.

 

      SENATOR GLOMB SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

      THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATOR TOWNSEND WAS ABSENT FOR

      THE VOTE.)

Chairman Rawson brought up A.B. 556 for consideration and discussion by the committee.

 

ASSEMBLY BILL 556:      Authorizes formation of multidisciplinary teams to investigate deaths of children. 

                  (BDR 38-1538)

 

      SENATOR O'DONNELL MOVED TO DO PASS A.B. 556.

 

      SENATOR GLOMB SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

      THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATOR TOWNSEND WAS ABSENT FOR

      THE VOTE.)

Proposed amended language to S.B. 482 (Exhibit B) was distributed to the members for review and discussion.

 

SENATE BILL 482:  Regulates establishment and operation of cemeteries for pets.  (BDR 40-132)

 

      SENATOR COFFIN MOVED TO AMEND AND DO PASS S.B. 482 WITH THE PROPOSED AMENDMENTS REFERENCED AS EXHIBIT B.

 

      SENATOR GLOMB SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

      THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATOR TOWNSEND WAS ABSENT FOR

      THE VOTE.)
