The Senate Committee on Judiciary was called to order by Chairman Mark A. James, at 3:57 p.m., on Thursday, July 1, 1993, on the Senate floor of the Legislative Building, Carson City, Nevada.  There was no meeting agenda.  There was no attendance roster.

Chairman James called the meeting to order at his desk on the senate floor to consider the assembly amendments to Senate Bill (S.B.) 298, Senate Bill (S.B.) 4, Senate Bill (S.B.) 405, Senate Bill (S.B.) 421, Senate Bill (S.B.) 477, and Senate Bill (S.B.) 462.  Senator James briefly explained the amendments.

 

SENATE BILL 298:  Revises provisions governing payments for support for children. (BDR 11-1564)

 

      SENATOR SMITH MOVED TO NOT CONCUR IN ASSEMBLY AMENDMENT NO. 1192 TO S.B. 298.

 

      SENATOR JACOBSEN SECONDED THE MOTION.

SENATE BILL 4:          Expands governmental immunity with regard to inspections. (BDR 3-459)

      SENATOR ADLER SECONDED THE MOTION.

Senator James opened the hearing on Assembly Bill (A.B.) 789.

 

ASSEMBLY BILL 789:      Authorizes use of specially appointed attorney for limited duration with limited jurisdiction. (BDR 20-2186)

 

Senator James reminded the committee that Ben Graham, Nevada District Attorney's Association, provided testimony on this bill at the hearing held by the committee on June 30, 1993.  The committee reviewed Mr. Graham's testimony.

 

      SENATOR SMITH MOVED TO DO PASS A.B. 789.

 

      SENATOR MCGINNESS SECONDED THE MOTION.
