The Senate Committee on Judiciary was called to order by Chairman Mark A. James, at 1:50 p.m., on Monday, January 18, 1993, on the Senate floor of the Legislative Building, Carson City, Nevada.

Chairman James proposed a list of bill draft requests (BDRs) be reviewed for committee introduction so the bills could be heard in committee as early as Friday.
The following is a list of BDRs to be submitted for introduction:
BDR 14-167:Provides United States marshal and his deputies certain authority to arrest persons without warrant.
BDR C-207: Proposes to amend Nevada constitution to provide expressly for rights of victims of crime.
BDR 34-1345: Extends provision allowing interlocal agreements between police department of University of Nevada System and other law enforcement agencies to all counties.
BDR 43-214:Revises for specified counties requirement that peace officers' standards and training committee certify certain juvenile probation officers.
BDR 16-796:Revises responsibilities of board of county commissioners with respect to certain jails in county.
BDR 3-459: Expands governmental immunity with regard to inspections.
BDR 16-440:Requires notice to operator of jail and opportunity to be heard before issuance of court order altering conditions of confinement of prisoner.
BDR 16-443:Makes various changes relating to prisoners in local facilities for detention.
BDR 16-444:Requires department of prisons to pay costs of detaining parolee in county jail for violation of condition of parole.
BDR 16-445:Provides for transfer of person arrested on misdemeanor warrant from local detention facility to law enforcement agency that obtained warrant.
BDR 16-665:Revises procedure for evaluation of certain persons convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances to determine if such persons can be assigned to program for treatment.
BDR 16-914:Eliminates requirement that prisoner be tested for human immunodeficiency virus upon release from prison.
BDR 16-668:Clarifies provision relating to continued detention of paroled prisoner under certain circumstances.
BDR 3-507: Requires special verdict in action in which state or its political subdivision is sole named defendant.
BDR 16-510:Provides for payment by state of costs of prosecution in additional cases.
BDR 2-514: Increases permissible punishment for contempt of court.
BDR 16-515:Clarifies authority of department of prisons to determine appropriate method to test offender for human immunodeficiency virus.
The committee agreed to committee introduction.
