      SENATE COMMITTEE ON NATURAL RESOURCES

 

      Sixty-seventh Session

The Senate Committee on Natural Resources was called to order by Chairman R. Hal Smith, at 11:00 p.m., on Thursday, July 1, 1993, on the Senate floor of the Legislative Building, Carson City, Nevada.  There was no Meeting Agenda.  There was no Attendance Roster.

 

 

COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT:

Senator Dina Titus

 

 

COMMITTEE MEMBERS ABSENT:

 

Senator Dean A. Rhoads, Vice Chairman (Excused)

Senator Thomas J. Hickey (Excused)

 

 

STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT:

 

Rayanne Francis, Senate Committee Secretary

 

 

Chairman Smith convened the floor meeting and requested that members of the committee review a concur/not concur assembly amendment to Senate Bill (S.B.) 347.

 

SENATE BILL 347:  Makes various statutory changes in compliance with federal Clean Air Act.

 

Senator Neal reviewed the proposed assembly amendment with committee members.  There was considerable concern that the amendment weakened the intent of S.B. 347 and a recommendation was made that the bill be referred to a conference committee.

 

Chairman Smith called for action on S.B. 347.

 

      SENATOR JAMES MOVED TO NOT CONCUR IN THE ASSEMBLY AMENDMENT TO S.B. 347 AND REFER THE BILL TO A CONFERENCE COMMITTEE.

 

      SENATOR TITUS SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

      THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATORS HICKEY AND RHOADS WERE ABSENT FOR THE VOTE.)

 

Chairman Smith assigned Senators Adler, James and Titus to the Senate conference committee.

There being no further business before the Senate Committee on Natural Resources, Chairman Smith adjourned the hearing at 11:06 p.m.
