The Senate Committee on Transportation was called to order by Chairman William R. O'Donnell, at 9:52 p.m., on Wednesday, June 33, 1993, on the Senate floor of the Legislative Building, Carson City, Nevada.  There was no Meeting Agenda.  There was no Attendance Roster.

Chairman O'Donnell convened the meeting to discuss Assembly Bill (A.B.) 645.

 

Assembly Bill 645:      Makes various changes in regulation of dealers and other enterprises related to motor vehicles.

 

Chairman O'Donnell explained by reading the bill summary from the Assembly Committee on transportation and asked for a motion on this bill.

 

      SENATOR NEVIN MOVED TO DO PASS A.B. 645.

 

      SENATOR NEAL SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

      THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATORS BROWN AND JAMES ABSTAINED FROM THE VOTE.)

Chairman O'Donnell then discussed A.B. 665.

 

Assembly Bill 665:      Requires department of transportation to study alternative methods of establishing system of emergency telephones along most frequently traveled public highways.

 

      SENATOR NEVIN MOVED TO DO PASS A.B. 665.

 

      SENATOR HICKEY SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

      THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATOR JAMES WAS ABSENT FOR THE VOTE.)

Chairman O'Donnell discussed A.B. 138.

 

Assembly Bill 138:      Revises provisions regarding speed limits in school zones and school crossing zones.

 

The committee discussed whether to recede or not recede from the amendment to the bill.

 

      SENATOR NEVIN MOVED TO DO NOT RECEDE FROM THE AMENDMENT TO A.B. 138.

 

      SENATOR NEAL SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

      THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATOR BROWN ABSTAINED FROM THE VOTE.  SENATOR JAMES WAS ABSENT FOR THE VOTE.)

Chairman O'Donnell assigned himself and Senators Nevin and Jacobsen to the first conference committee on A.B. 138.

 

 

There being no further business before the committee, Chairman O'Donnell adjourned the meeting at 10:00 p.m.
