MINUTES OF THE
	SENATE COMMITTEE ON HUMAN RESOURCES AND FACILITIES

	Sixty-eighth Session

The Senate Committee on Human Resources and Facilities was 
called to order by Chairman Raymond D. Rawson, at 11:35 a.m., on 
Monday, June 26, 1995, on the Senate floor  of the Legislative 
Building, Carson City, Nevada.  There was no Agenda.  There was 
no Attendance Roster.

Chairman Rawson  started discussion of Amendment No. 1259 to 
Assembly Bill (A.B.) 330.

ASSEMBLY BILL 330:	Makes various changes related to billing 
provided to patients of hospitals and 
extends date for prospective expiration of 
provisions that limit increase in charges 
that major hospitals may impose.          
                    


Senator Rawson explained to the committee Amendment No. 1259 to 
A.B. 330 states that every hospital licensed pursuant to the 
provisions of Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) 449.001 to 449.240 
inclusive shall provide to patients an itemized charge for 
services, and charges for equipment used and the supplies and 
medicines provided incident to the provision of those services.

Mr. Michael Pitlock, Executive Director, Department of Taxation, 
stated that if the patient is not obligated to pay any portion 
of the bill, a statement of the total charges will be available. 
 Also Mr. Pitlock reiterated, upon discharge of the patient, the 
patient will be advised of the status of any copayment or 
deductible for which the patient is responsible.  Discussion 
followed.

SENATOR COFFIN MOVED TO AMEND AND DO PASS A.B. 330 AS 
AMENDED WITH AMENDMENT NO. 1259.

SENATOR WASHINGTON SECONDED THE MOTION.

THE MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
