Today, O Father, I am mindful of the rich diversity of this great state You have chosen for us to serve. I thank You for its mountains and its meadows, its lakes and its deserts. Wow, what a place! But, today, O Father, I am also mindful of the rich diversity of our people, we are of all races, cultures, economies, beliefs, and unbeliefs, wow, what a people! I pray for these men and women of this body that they may of this diversity always pursue unity, peace and compassion.
I pray in the Name of the One called the Prince of Peace.

Senate Bill No. 97--An Act relating to campaign practices; revising the definition of "contribution" for the purposes of limiting and reporting campaign contributions; prohibiting a person from making a contribution in the name of another person; revising the amount of money that may be contributed to or accepted by a candidate for certain public offices; expanding the type of entities that are restricted in the amount that they may contribute to a candidate for certain public offices; requiring political parties and committees sponsored by a political party to report the campaign contributions received; requiring certain candidates who receive contributions before the year of the election in which they intend to seek election to public office to report the contributions received and expenditures made; reducing the monetary threshold for the reporting of certain campaign contributions and expenditures; revising the periods for the reporting of campaign contributions and expenditures; increasing the penalty for giving or accepting an illegal campaign contribution; revising the penalties for failing to comply with the provisions requiring the reporting of campaign contributions and expenditures; providing a penalty; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

Senate Bill No. 103--An Act relating to deviant sexual acts; requiring the director of the department of motor vehicles and public safety to establish a program to compile and analyze data concerning sex offenders and juveniles who commit delinquent acts relating to sex; requiring the division of child and family services of the department of human resources to provide certain information to the program; requiring that the director report statistical data and findings from the program to the legislature and the advisory commission on sentencing; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.
