JOINT SPONSORSHIP OF BILLS AND RESOLUTIONS

1. A bill or resolution introduced by a standing committee of the Senate or Assembly may, at the direction of the chairman of the committee, set forth the names of Senators and Assemblymen who wish to be joint sponsors of the bill or resolution. The names of the joint sponsors must be set forth on the face of the bill or resolution in the following order:
(a) The name of the chairman of the standing committee that will be introducing the bill or resolution, if he wishes to be a joint sponsor of the bill or resolution.
(b) The names of the remaining joint sponsors of the bill or resolution who are members elected to the House where the bill or resolution is to be introduced, in alphabetical order.
(c) The names of the joint sponsors of the bill or resolution who are members elected to the other House, in alphabetical order.
2. A bill or resolution introduced by one or more Legislators elected to one House may, at the direction of the Legislator who is the primary introducer of the bill or resolution, set forth the names of the Legislators who are members elected to the other House who wish to be joint sponsors of the bill or resolution. The names of the Legislators who are joint sponsors must be set forth separately on the face of the bill or resolution in alphabetical order below the date on which the bill or resolution is introduced.
3. Upon its introduction, any bill or resolution that sets forth the names of joint sponsors must be numbered in the same numerical sequence as other bills and resolutions of the same House of origin are numbered

Senate Bill No. 97--An Act relating to campaign practices; revising the definition of "contribution" for the purposes of limiting and reporting campaign contributions; prohibiting a person from making a contribution in the name of another person; revising the amount of money that may be contributed to or accepted by a candidate for certain public offices; expanding the type of entities that are restricted in the amount that they may contribute to a candidate for certain public offices; requiring political parties and committees sponsored by a political party to report the campaign contributions received; requiring certain candidates who receive contributions before the year of the election in which they intend to seek election to public office to report the contributions received and expenditures made; reducing the monetary threshold for the reporting of certain campaign contributions and expenditures; revising the periods for the reporting of campaign contributions and expenditures; increasing the penalty for giving or accepting an illegal campaign contribution; revising the penalties for failing to comply with the provisions requiring the reporting of campaign contributions and expenditures; providing a penalty; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.
