The Senate Committee on Government Affairs amended A.B. 439 to add a grandfather clause, which would allow current senior permit holders under age 65 to keep their permits until they qualified under new age and residency requirements. The committee did not want permit holders who currently enjoyed free use of state parks to lose that privilege until they turned 65.
Another amendment presented to the committee for a vote made the language of section 2 in A.B. 439 consistent with A.B. 441, which passed in both Assembly and Senate. A.B. 441 revised provisions governing the expenditure of money from the state park maintenance account. Both A.B. 439 and A.B. 441 referred to Nevada Revised Statute 407.0762; therefore, the language of both measures had to be consistent.
The Chairman called for a motion.
ASSEMBLYMAN MARVEL MOVED TO CONCUR WITH BOTH AMENDMENTS.
ASSEMBLYMAN HETTRICK SECONDED THE MOTION.
THE MOTION CARRIED.
The Chairman asked if there were additional questions or comments, and there were none. She called for a motion.
ASSEMBLYMAN HETTRICK MOVED TO DO PASS S.J.R. 3.
ASSEMBLYMAN CARPENTER SECONDED THE MOTION.
THE MOTION CARRIED.
There being no further business before the committee, the meeting was adjourned at 12:20 p.m.
Respectfully submitted:
Sharon T. Spencer, Committee Secretary
APPROVED BY:
Assemblywoman Marcia de Braga, Chairman
