The Senate Committee on Finance was called to order by Chairman William J. Raggio, at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 4, 1999, in Room 1214 of the Legislative Building, Carson City, Nevada. There was no Agenda. There was no Attendance Roster. All exhibits are available and on file at the Research Library of the Legislative Counsel Bureau.

Senator Raggio stated there were bill draft requests (BDRs) to be considered. The first BDR, submitted by Senator Coffin, was requested by the State of Nevada Employees Association (SNEA). It concerned longevity pay.

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 23-872: Increases amount of longevity payments to state employees. (Later introduced as Senate Bill 113.)

SENATOR O’DONNELL SECONDED THE MOTION.

Senator Raggio said BDR S-699 was requested by the Clark County School District.

BILL DRAFT REQUEST S-699: Makes appropriation to Clark County School District for clerical resources to track and report attendance irregularities. (Later introduced as Senate Bill 112.)

Senator Raggio stated the Department of Administration requested BDR 23-758.

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 23-758: Clarifies provisions governing purchase by state agency of service credit in public employees’ retirement system on behalf of certain employees under certain circumstances. (Later introduced as Senate Bill 111.)

Senator Raggio pointed out BDR 38-1129 has a fiscal note and was requested by the Legislative Committee on Health Care.

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 38-1129: Requires department of human resources to establish program of primary and supplemental health care services for certain persons with disabilities who are ineligible for Medicaid. (Later introduced as Senate Bill 109.)
