The committee reviewed Senate Bill (S.B.) 255.
SENATE BILL 255: Revises provisions governing funding for railroad suppression and grade separation projects and ratifies and clarifies construction of certain actions of Washoe County and City of Reno. (BDR S-1187)
Senator Raggio stated S.B. 255 was intended to clarify the Legislature’s intent regarding related legislation passed during the sixty-ninth session.
ASSEMBLY BILL 291 OF THE SIXTY-NINTH SESSION: Authorizes imposition of certain taxes for certain projects related to infrastructure. (BDR 32-1485)
SENATE BILL 494 OF THE SIXTY-NINTH SESSION: Revises provisions of Assembly Bill No. 291 of this session. (BDR S-1866)
Senator Raggio indicated Amendment No. 220 proposed by the Assembly to S.B. 255 would change the summary of the legislation and clarify the original intent of the bill. He pointed out the room tax would be used as a match for money provided by the railroad.
Prompted by Senator Neal, Senator Raggio explained the amendment would change the title of the bill by deleting "revising" and inserting "clarifying." He restated the amendment would change the language as it was previously incorrect.
SENATOR RAGGIO MOVED TO CONCUR WITH AMENDMENT NO. 220 TO S.B. 255.
SENATOR CARE SECONDED THE MOTION.
