The Senate Committee on Judiciary was called to order by Vice Chairman Jon C. Porter, at 12:49 p.m., on Wednesday, May 26, 1999, on the Senate Floor of the Legislative Building, Carson City, Nevada. There was no Agenda. There was no Attendance Roster. All exhibits are available and on file at the Research Library of the Legislative Counsel Bureau.

Vice Chairman Porter opened the meeting to consider the Assembly amendment to Senate Bill (S.B.) 192.

SENATE BILL 192: Makes various changes concerning common-interest communities. (BDR 10-70)

Vice Chairman Porter read from Exhibit A, a summary of Amendment No. 1084 to S.B. 192. The summary was prepared by Allison Combs, Committee Policy Analyst, Research Division, Legislative Counsel Bureau.

Senator Care referred to section 1, subsection 3 of the amendment, which requires the "majority" consent of property owners within 500 feet of a proposed structure. He questioned from where the "majority" provision was derived, rather than a higher percentage.

Vice Chairman Porter accepted a motion.

SENATOR CARE MOVED TO NOT CONCUR WITH AMENDMENT NO. 1084 TO S.B. 192.

SENATOR WIENER SECONDED THE MOTION.

THE MOTION CARRIED. (SENATOR JAMES WAS ABSENT FOR THE VOTE.)
