AN ACT relating to the state controller; eliminating the prohibition against certain employees of the state controller pursuing other businesses or occupations; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

1-1 Section 1. NRS 227.100 is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-2 227.100 1. The state controller may appoint a deputy in the

1-3 unclassified service of the state, who may, in the absence of the state

1-4 controller, do all acts devolving upon and necessary to be performed by the

1-5 state controller, except the signing of state warrants and bonds.

1-6 2. Except as otherwise provided in NRS 284.143, the deputy state

1-7 controller [and other employees] shall devote [their] his entire time and

1-8 attention to the business of [their offices] his office and shall not pursue

1-9 any other [businesses or occupations] business or occupation or hold any

1-10 other [offices] office of profit.

1-11 Sec. 2. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
