AN ACT relating to the protection of property; extending the date of expiration of a permit to

operate as a locksmith or safe mechanic; and providing other matters properly

relating thereto.

 

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

1-1 Section 1. NRS 655.070 is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-2 655.070 1. Every person who wishes to operate as a locksmith or

1-3 safe mechanic [shall] must obtain a permit from the sheriff of the county in

1-4 which his principal place of business is located.

1-5 2. The sheriff of a county shall investigate each applicant and shall

1-6 issue a permit to each applicant who qualifies under any ordinance adopted

1-7 by the board of county commissioners of the county which regulates the

1-8 occupation of locksmiths and who is found by the board of county

1-9 commissioners to be suitable. An ordinance adopted by the board of county

1-10 commissioners must specify fees for the issuance and renewal of a permit.

1-11 3. A permit expires [1 year from] 5 years after the date it was obtained Green numbers along left 1-12 margin indicate location on the printed bill (e.g., 5-15 indicates page 5, line 15).

1-13 and may be renewed.

1-14 4. The holder of a permit shall have the permit in his possession at all

1-15 times.

1-16 5. The holder of a permit shall [, within 10 days,] report any change of

1-17 address of his principal place of business to the sheriff of the county in

1-18 which the permit was obtained [.] within 10 days after the change occurs.
