THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. Chapter 4 of NRS is hereby amended by adding thereto a1-2
new section to read as follows:1-3
1. If a justice of the peace orders a defendant who is convicted of a1-4
misdemeanor to make restitution to a person named in the order, the1-5
justice’s court or the county in which the justice’s court is located shall1-6
collect the restitution paid by the defendant.1-7
2. All money for restitution collected by a justice’s court or county1-8
pursuant to subsection 1 must be paid to the person named in the order1-9
in the manner set forth in the order.2-1
3. If a justice’s court or county that has collected money for2-2
restitution pursuant to subsection 1 cannot, after a good faith effort,2-3
locate the person named in the order, it shall deposit the money in a fund2-4
for the compensation of victims of crime established in the county in2-5
which the court is located.2-6
Sec. 2. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.~
