THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. Chapter 459 of NRS is hereby amended by adding thereto1-2
a new section to read as follows:1-3
1. A person shall not use, sell or offer to sell a product that is1-4
intended for use as a refrigerant for the air-conditioning system of a1-5
motor vehicle or a residential, commercial or industrial structure or for a1-6
refrigerator or other cooling or heating device unless the product:1-7
(a) Has been approved for the intended use by the United States1-8
Environmental Protection Agency; or1-9
(b) Complies with one of the following standards of flammability:1-10
(1) SAE J639 or SAE J1657 of the Society of Automotive1-11
Engineers;1-12
(2) ASHRAE Standard 34-1992 of the American Society of1-13
Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers, Inc.;1-14
(3) UL 2182 of the Underwriters Laboratories Inc.; or1-15
(4) ASTM E681-85 of the American Society for Testing and1-16
Materials.2-1
2. A person who violates the provisions of subsection 1 is guilty of a2-2
misdemeanor.2-3
Sec. 2. The amendatory provisions of this act do not apply to offenses2-4
that are committed before October 1, 1999.~
