THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. NRS 408.200 is hereby amended to read as follows: 408.200 1. The director shall investigate and determine the methods1-3

various sections of the state, and shall establish standards and1-5
specifications for the construction and maintenance of the highways,1-6
giving due regard to the topography, natural conditions, character and1-7
availability of1-8
the governing body of a local government has adopted standards and1-9
specifications for the construction and maintenance of highways within1-10
its jurisdiction, the director shall establish standards and specifications1-11
for the construction and maintenance of highways within that1-12
jurisdiction that are at least as stringent as the standards and1-13
specifications adopted by the local government.2-1
2. The director may construct, reconstruct, operate and maintain2-2

materials as may be necessary to establish and maintain such standards2-4
and specifications.2-5

including members of regional transportation commissions, having2-7
authority over streets and highways within their respective counties may2-8
consult with the director relative to any question involving such streets2-9
and highways .2-10
such county officials all such information or assistance as they may render2-11
in the performance of his duties with their county, and such county2-12
officials shall supply such information when requested by the director.2-13
Sec. 2. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.~
