THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. NRS 484.305 is hereby amended to read as follows: 484.305 1.1-3
marked lanes for traffic traveling in one direction, vehicles1-4
driven as nearly as practicable entirely within a single lane and1-5

2. Upon a highway which has been divided into three clearly marked1-9

4. If a highway has three or more clearly marked lanes for traffic2-12
traveling in one direction, a truck, commercial vehicle, or combination of2-13
vehicles, that has a gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination2-14
weight rating of 26,000 pounds or more must not be driven in the2-15
extreme left lane except:2-16
(a) When directed to do so by a law enforcement officer, an employee2-17
of the department of transportation or an employee of the county road2-18
supervisor or board of road commissioners of the county in which the2-19
highway is located;2-20
(b) When highway conditions and safety indicate that travel in the2-21
extreme left lane is warranted; or2-22
(c) In preparation for a left turn or U-turn.2-23
5. If a highway has two clearly marked lanes for traffic traveling in2-24
one direction, a truck, commercial vehicle, or combination of vehicles,2-25
that has a gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating2-26
of 26,000 pounds or more must not be driven in the left lane except:2-27
(a) When overtaking and passing another vehicle proceeding in the2-28
same direction under the laws governing such movements;2-29
(b) When the right lane is closed to traffic;2-30
(c) When directed to do so by a law enforcement officer, an employee2-31
of the department of transportation or an employee of the county road2-32
supervisor or board of road commissioners of the county in which the2-33
highway is located; or2-34
(d) When highway conditions and safety indicate that travel in the left2-35
lane is warranted.2-36
6. As used in this section:2-37
(a) "Gross combination weight rating" means:2-38
(1) The value specified by the manufacturer as the loaded weight of2-39
a combination of vehicles; or2-40
(2) In the absence of a value specified by the manufacturer, a value2-41
determined by the total weight of all vehicles in the combination of2-42
vehicles and the loads on those vehicles.3-1
(b) "Gross vehicle weight rating" means the value specified by the3-2
manufacturer as the loaded weight of a single motor vehicle.3-3
(c) "Law enforcement officer" means:3-4
(1) A police officer;3-5
(2) An officer of a unit for the enforcement of nonmoving traffic3-6
laws established pursuant to NRS 280.125; or3-7
(3) Any other law enforcement officer designated by a board of3-8
county commissioners of the county or the governing body of the city in3-9
which a highway is located.~
