THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. Chapter 608 of NRS is hereby amended by adding thereto1-2
a new section to read as follows:1-3
Each employer who employs at least 300 employees in private1-4
employment in this state shall, in addition to any other leave, grant to1-5
each employee 2 hours of leave with pay each year for each child of the1-6
employee who attends kindergarten or grades 1 to 12, inclusive, to meet1-7
with the teacher or counselor of the child, or the principal or any other1-8
administrator of the school that the child attends.1-9
Sec. 2. NRS 608.180 is hereby amended to read as follows: 608.180 The labor commissioner or his representative shall cause the1-11
provisions of NRS 608.005 to 608.170, inclusive, and section 1 of this act,1-12
to be enforced, and upon notice from the labor commissioner or his1-13
representative:1-14
1. The district attorney of any county in which a violation of those1-15
sections has occurred;1-16
2. The deputy labor commissioner, as provided in NRS 607.050;2-1
3. The attorney general, as provided in NRS 607.160; or2-2
4. The special counsel, as provided in NRS 607.065,2-3
shall prosecute the action for enforcement according to law.2-4
Sec. 3. NRS 608.195 is hereby amended to read as follows: 608.195 Every person violating any of the provisions of NRS 608.0052-6
to 608.190, inclusive, and section 1 of this act, is guilty of a misdemeanor.2-7
Sec. 4. The amendatory provisions of this act do not apply to offenses2-8
that were committed before October 1, 1999.~
