AN ACT relating to public employment; directing the Department of Personnel to increase the salaries of certain custody positions in the Department of Prisons and Department of Human Resources; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

1-1 Section 1. 1. The Department of Personnel shall increase by two

1-2 grades the level of compensation of all custody positions within the

1-3 Department of Prisons and the Mental Hygiene and Mental Retardation

1-4 Division of the Department of Human Resources on the pay plan for

1-5 employees in the classified service of the state that is adopted pursuant to

1-6 NRS 284.175 and is effective on July 1, 1999.

1-7 2. As used in this section:

1-8 (a) "Custody position" includes, without limitation:

1-9 (1) Correctional officers and related supervisory positions;

1-10 (2) Correctional caseworkers and related supervisory positions; and

1-11 (3) Forensic specialists and related supervisory positions.

1-12 (b) "Grade" means the designation of a salary range for a classification

1-13 of employees.

1-14 Sec. 2. This act becomes effective on July 1, 1999.
