AN ACT relating to local governments; authorizing contracts with certain private organizations to perform certain services; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

1-1 Section 1. Chapter 237 of NRS is hereby amended by adding thereto

1-2 the provisions set forth as sections 2 and 3 of this act.

1-3 Sec. 2. As used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise requires,

1-4 "local government" has the meaning ascribed to it in NRS 354.474.

1-5 Sec. 3. 1. A local government, or an entity, administrator or joint

1-6 board that administers a joint or cooperative undertaking pursuant to the

1-7 provisions of NRS 277.120, may contract with a nonprofit corporation,

1-8 whether or not cooperative, a nonprofit unincorporated association or a

1-9 charitable organization to perform any service, activity or undertaking

1-10 which the local government is authorized to perform and the other party

1-11 is capable of performing.

1-12 2. A local government or other entity that enters into a contract

1-13 pursuant to subsection 1 shall take all reasonable actions practicable to

2-1 alleviate any adverse effect of the contract on the persons employed by

2-2 the local government or other entity at the time the contract is executed.
