CHAPTER........

AN ACT relating to actions for dental malpractice; repealing the prospective expiration of the

provisions governing screening panels for dental malpractice claims; and providing

other matters properly relating thereto.

 

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

1-1 Section 1. Section 19 of chapter 621, Statutes of Nevada 1995, at page

1-2 2351, is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-3 Sec. 19. The amendatory provisions of this act [: Green numbers along left margin indicate 1-4 location on the printed bill (e.g., 5-15 indicates page 5, line 15).

1-5 1. Do] do not apply to causes of action involving dental

1-6 malpractice, as that term is defined in section 2 of this act, which are

1-7 filed before October 1, 1995.

1-8 [2. Expire by limitation on July 1, 1999.]

1-9 Sec. 2. Section 3 of chapter 135, Statutes of Nevada 1997, at page 294,

1-10 is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-11 Sec. 3. [1.] Section 1 of this act becomes effective on

1-12 October 1, 1997 . [, and expires by limitation on June 30, 1999.

1-13 2. Section 2 of this act becomes effective on July 1, 1999.]

1-14 Sec. 3. Section 12 of chapter 327, Statutes of Nevada 1997, at page

1-15 1220, is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-16 Sec. 12. [1.] This section and sections 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10 and 11

1-17 of this act become effective on October 1, 1997.

1-18 [2. Sections 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10 and 11 of this act expire by

1-19 limitation on July 1, 1999.

1-20 3. Sections 2, 4, 6 and 8 of this act become effective on July 1,

1-21 1999.]

1-22 Sec. 4. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
