AN ACT relating to prisons; increasing the compensation of persons employed at certain correctional facilities; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

1-1 Section 1. Chapter 209 of NRS is hereby amended by adding thereto

1-2 a new section to read as follows:

1-3 In addition to his regular salary and any other payment, each person

1-4 employed by the department at:

1-5 1. A facility designated as maximum security by the director and the

1-6 board is entitled to receive $200 per month.

1-7 2. Lovelock Correctional Center is entitled to receive $100 per

1-8 month.

1-9 Sec. 2. NRS 209.183 is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-10 209.183 In addition to his regular salary, each person employed by the

1-11 department of prisons or the division of forestry of the state department of

1-12 conservation and natural resources at the Southern Nevada Correctional

1-13 Center, the Southern Desert Correctional Center, the Indian Springs

1-14 Conservation Camp, or the [proposed] Jean Conservation Camp is entitled

1-15 to receive, as compensation for travel expenses, not more than [$6] $7.50

2-1 for each day he reports to work if his residence is more than 25 miles from

2-2 the respective facility. The total cost for compensation for travel expenses

2-3 authorized by this section must not exceed the amount specially

2-4 appropriated for this purpose.

2-5 Sec. 3. This act becomes effective on July 1, 1999.
