AN ACT relating to hospital districts; providing for the dissolution of a hospital district; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

1-1 Section 1. Chapter 450 of NRS is hereby amended by adding thereto

1-2 a new section to read as follows:

1-3 1. If, after a hearing, the board of county commissioners determines

1-4 that the dissolution of a hospital district is necessary, the board shall by

1-5 resolution provide for the dissolution of the hospital district. On and after

1-6 the filing of the resolution with the county recorder, the hospital district

1-7 shall be deemed dissolved.

1-8 2. If, at the time of the dissolution of the hospital district, there are

1-9 any outstanding loans or bonded indebtedness of the hospital district,

1-10 including, without limitation, loans made to the hospital district by the

1-11 county, the taxes for the payment of the bonds or other indebtedness

1-12 must continue to be levied and collected in the same manner as if the

1-13 hospital district had not been dissolved until all outstanding indebtedness

1-14 is repaid, but for all other purposes the hospital district shall be deemed

1-15 dissolved from the time of the filing of the resolution.

2-1 3. The property of the dissolved hospital district may be retained by

2-2 the board of county commissioners for use as a hospital or disposed of in

2-3 any manner the board deems appropriate. Any proceeds of the sale or

2-4 other transfer of the property of the dissolved hospital district must be

2-5 used to repay any indebtedness of the hospital district.

2-6 Sec. 2. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
