AN ACT relating to the Department of Motor Vehicles and Public Safety; requiring the Department of Motor Vehicles and Public Safety to conduct a study to determine the costs incurred in administering the programs for issuing certificates of registration for motor vehicles and drivers’ licenses in this state; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

1-1 Section 1. The Department of Motor Vehicles and Public Safety shall:

1-2 1. Conduct a study to determine whether the fees charged for:

1-3 (a) Certificates of registration for motor vehicles issued pursuant to

1-4 chapter 482 of NRS; and

1-5 (b) Drivers’ licenses issued pursuant to chapter 483 of NRS,

1-6 are equal to or greater than the costs the Department incurs in administering

1-7 the programs for the issuance of certificates of registration and drivers’

1-8 licenses; and

2-1 2. On or before February 15, 2001, submit a report of the study to the

2-2 Director of the Legislative Counsel Bureau for transmittal to the 71st

2-3 session of the Nevada Legislature.

2-4 Sec. 2. This act becomes effective on July 1, 1999.
