relating thereto.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. 1. There is hereby appropriated from the state general
fund to the Interim Finance Committee for distribution to Washoe County
the sum of $3,000,000 to provide a portion of the funding necessary for the
construction of a new juvenile detention facility and juvenile addiction
center in Washoe County.
2. Upon the request of Washoe County, the money appropriated
pursuant to subsection 1 may be distributed by the Interim Finance
Committee for the payment of expenses incurred by Washoe County in the
construction of a new juvenile detention facility and juvenile addiction
center in Washoe County.
3. A request to the Interim Finance Committee for a distribution of
money pursuant to subsection 2 must include:
(a) A statement setting forth the amount of money requested.
(b) A determination of the amount of resources that will be necessary for
the completion of a new juvenile detention facility and juvenile addiction
center in Washoe County.
4. Upon the receipt of a request for a distribution of money, the Interim
Finance Committee shall consider the request and may require any
additional information that it determines is necessary to make a final
decision. Before money may be distributed to Washoe County pursuant to
this section, the Interim Finance Committee must make a determination
that, with the assistance of the money so distributed, the county is able to

detention facility and juvenile addiction center. Upon approval of a request
for a distribution, the Interim Finance Committee shall distribute to Washoe
County an amount equal to the actual cost for work performed not to
exceed the amount appropriated pursuant to subsection 1 after it receives a
report from Washoe County of the work performed and the actual cost for
that work.
5. Any remaining balance of the appropriation made by subsection 1
must not be committed for expenditure after June 30, 2004, and reverts to
the state general fund as soon as all payments of money committed have
been made.
Sec. 2. This act becomes effective on July 1, 2000.
