THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. Chapter 422 of NRS is hereby amended by adding thereto1-2
a new section to read as follows:1-3
If the welfare division provides financial support for the foster care of1-4
a child by a relative of the child within the third degree of consanguinity1-5
and the relative adopts the child, the division shall continue to provide1-6
the same amount of financial support for the care of the child until the1-7
child no longer resides with the relative, attains majority, becomes self-1-8
supporting, is emancipated or dies, whichever occurs first.1-9
Sec. 2. NRS 422.240 is hereby amended to read as follows: 422.240 1. Money to carry out the provisions of NRS 422.070 to1-11
422.410, inclusive, and section 1 of this act, including, without limitation,1-12
any federal money allotted to the State of Nevada pursuant to the program1-13
to provide temporary assistance for needy families and the program for2-1
child care and development, must be provided by appropriation by the2-2
legislature from the state general fund.2-3
2. Disbursements for the purposes of NRS 422.070 to 422.410,2-4
inclusive, and section 1 of this act must be made upon claims2-5
audited and allowed in the same manner as other money in the state2-6
treasury is disbursed.2-7
Sec. 3. Chapter 432 of NRS is hereby amended by adding thereto a2-8
new section to read as follows:2-9
1. If the division provides financial support for the foster care of a2-10
child by a relative of the child within the third degree of consanguinity2-11
and the relative adopts the child, the division shall continue to provide2-12
the same amount of financial support for the care of the child until the2-13
child no longer resides with the relative, attains majority, becomes self-2-14
supporting, is emancipated or dies, whichever occurs first.2-15
2. The provision of any financial support pursuant to this section2-16
must not affect any grant of financial assistance pursuant to NRS2-17
127.186.2-18
Sec. 4. NRS 432.040 is hereby amended to read as follows: 432.040 The nonfederal share of all expenses for special services and2-20
maintenance provided to children and unmarried mothers pursuant to NRS2-21
432.010 to 432.085, inclusive, and section 3 of this act must be paid from2-22
money which may be provided to the division by direct legislative2-23
appropriation.~
