THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. NRS 284.177 is hereby amended to read as follows: 284.177 1. A plan to encourage continuity of service, administered1-3
by the department is hereby established for employees with 8 years or1-4
more of continuous state service.1-5
provided in NRS 284.179, an employee rated standard or better with 81-6
years of continuous service1-7
with a semiannual increase of :1-8
(a) For employees with 9 through 16 years of continuous service, $251-9
for each additional year of service ;1-10
(b) For employees with 17 through 23 years of continuous service, $501-11
for each additional year of service; and1-12
(c) For employees with 24 or more years of continuous service, $751-13
for each additional year of service up to a maximum of 30 years of1-14
continuous state service.1-15
2. An interruption in continuous state service terminates the1-16
employee’s eligibility for additional pay pursuant to subsection 1.2-1
3. Except as provided in this subsection, no year served before the2-2
interruption may be counted in determining the employee’s subsequent2-3
eligibility. This provision does not apply to an employee who was2-4
employed before July 1, 1981, unless he leaves state service after that date.2-5
4. As used in this section, "continuous service" means uninterrupted2-6
service as defined by the commission.2-7
Sec. 2. The amendatory provisions of this act apply only to2-8
calculations made for payments on or after July 1, 1999.2-9
Sec. 3. This act becomes effective on July 1, 1999.~
