AN ACT relating to veteran affairs; authorizing the Nevada veterans’ services commission to hold additional meetings; expanding the permissible locations at which meetings of the commission may be held; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

1-1 Section 1. NRS 417.170 is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-2 417.170 1. The Nevada veterans’ services commission shall meet at

1-3 least four times and not more than [six] eight times every fiscal year.

1-4 2. Meetings of the veterans’ services commission may be held at the

1-5 call of the chairman whenever he determines that there is sufficient

1-6 business to warrant action by the veterans’ services commission or

1-7 whenever five members of the veterans’ services commission submit a

1-8 written request for a meeting.

1-9 3. Meetings of the veteran’s services commission [must alternate

1-10 between the city in which the office of the executive director is located and

1-11 Las Vegas.] may be held at any location deemed appropriate by the

1-12 chairman. The chairman shall arrange for the videoconferencing of

1-13 meetings when practicable.

2-1 4. Notice of the time, place and purpose of all meetings must be given

2-2 in writing to each member at least 5 days before the meeting.
