THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. Chapter 12 of NRS is hereby amended by adding thereto a1-2
new section to read as follows:1-3
1. Except as otherwise provided in subsection 2, the State of Nevada1-4
is the only governmental entity in this state that may commence a lawsuit1-5
against a manufacturer or distributor of a firearm or ammunition or a1-6
trade association related to firearms or ammunition for damages,1-7
abatement or injunctive relief resulting from or relating to the lawful1-8
design or manufacture of a firearm or ammunition or the marketing or1-9
sale of a firearm or ammunition to the public.1-10
2. The provisions of this section do not prohibit a county, city, local1-11
government or other political subdivision of this state or an agency1-12
thereof from commencing a lawsuit against a manufacturer or1-13
distributor of a firearm or ammunition for breach of contract or1-14
warranty concerning a firearm or ammunition purchased by the county,1-15
city, local government or other political subdivision of this state or1-16
agency thereof.2-1
Sec. 2. The provisions of this act apply to any action that is pending2-2
on or brought on or after October 1, 1999.~
