THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. NRS 617.135 is hereby amended to read as follows: 617.135 "Police officer" includes:1-3
1. A sheriff, deputy sheriff, officer of a metropolitan police department1-4
or city policeman;1-5
2. A chief, inspector supervisor, commercial officer or trooper of the1-6
Nevada highway patrol1-7
and public safety;1-8
3. A chief, investigator or agent of the investigation division of the1-9
department of motor vehicles and public safety;1-10
4. An officer or investigator for the control of emissions from vehicles1-11
of the registration division of the department of motor vehicles and public1-12
safety;1-13
5. An investigator of the bureau of enforcement of the registration1-14
division of the department of motor vehicles and public safety;1-15
6. A member of the police department of the University and1-16
Community College System of Nevada;1-17
7. A:1-18
(a) Uniformed employee of; or1-19
(b) Forensic specialist employed by,2-1
the department of prisons whose position requires regular and frequent2-2
contact with the offenders imprisoned and subjects the employee to recall2-3
in emergencies;2-4
8. A parole and probation officer of the division of parole and2-5
probation of the department of motor vehicles and public safety;2-6
9. A forensic specialist or correctional officer employed by the mental2-7
hygiene and mental retardation division of the department of human2-8
resources at facilities for mentally disordered offenders2-9
10. A special investigator employed by the office of the attorney2-10
general who is certified by the peace officers’ standards and training2-11
committee;2-12
11. A school police officer employed or appointed pursuant to2-13
subsection 4 of NRS 391.100 who is certified by the peace officers’2-14
standards and training committee;2-15
12. An officer or employee of the Nevada youth training center who2-16
is certified by the peace officers’ standards and training committee;2-17
13. A police officer of the Capitol Building who is certified by the2-18
peace officers’ standards and training committee;2-19
14. An assistant or deputy of the state fire marshal who is certified by2-20
the peace officers’ standards and training committee;2-21
15. A person designated as a game warden pursuant to NRS 501.3492-22
who is certified by the peace officers’ standards and training committee;2-23
16. A taxicab field investigator who is certified by the peace officers’2-24
standards and training committee;2-25
17. An agent of the state gaming control board whose duties include2-26
the enforcement, or the investigation of suspected violations, of statutes2-27
or regulations, and who is certified by the peace officers’ standards and2-28
training committee;2-29
18. A ranger or other employee of the division of state parks of the2-30
state department of conservation and natural resources who is certified2-31
by the peace officers’ standards and training committee; and2-32
19. An officer employed by a board of county commissioners2-33
pursuant to NRS 244.167 or by the governing body of a city pursuant to2-34
NRS 266.323, who is certified by the peace officers’ standards and2-35
training committee.~
