AN ACT relating to prisons; authorizing travel expenses for certain persons employed at the Men’s Prison No. 7; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

1-1 Section 1. NRS 209.183 is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-2 209.183 In addition to his regular salary, each person employed by the

1-3 department [of prisons] or the division of forestry of the state department of

1-4 conservation and natural resources at the Southern Nevada Correctional

1-5 Center, the Southern Desert Correctional Center, the Indian Springs

1-6 Conservation Camp, the correctional institution identified as the Men’s

1-7 Prison No. 7 in chapter 656, Statutes of Nevada 1995, and chapter 478,

1-8 Statutes of Nevada 1997, or the proposed Jean Conservation Camp is

1-9 entitled to receive, as compensation for travel expenses, not more than $6

1-10 for each day he reports to work if his residence is more than 25 miles from

1-11 the respective facility. The total cost for compensation for travel expenses

1-12 authorized by this section must not exceed the amount specially

1-13 appropriated for this purpose.

1-14 Sec. 2. This act becomes effective on July 1, 1999.
