THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. 1. Except as otherwise provided in this act, to effect1-2
increases in salaries of approximately 2 percent, there is hereby1-3
appropriated from the state general fund to the State Board of Examiners1-4
for the fiscal period beginning July 1, 2000, and ending June 30, 2001, the1-5
sum of $6,812,012 for the purpose of meeting any deficiencies which may1-6
be created between the appropriated money of the respective departments,1-7
commissions and agencies of the State of Nevada, as fixed by the 70th1-8
session of the legislature and the requirements for salaries of the classified1-9
and unclassified personnel of those departments, commissions and1-10
agencies, including the judicial branch, necessary under an adjusted pay1-11
plan, except those employees whose salaries have been retained, to become1-12
effective on July 1, 2000.1-13
2. The State Board of Examiners, upon the recommendation of the1-14
Director of the Department of Administration, may allocate and disburse to1-15
the various departments, commissions and agencies of the State of Nevada,1-16
out of the money appropriated by this section such sums of money as may1-17
from time to time be required, which when added to the money otherwise1-18
appropriated or available equals the amount of money required to pay the2-1
salaries of the classified and unclassified employees of the respective2-2
departments, commissions and agencies under the adjusted pay plan.2-3
Sec. 2. 1. To effect increases in salaries of approximately 2 percent,2-4
there is hereby appropriated from the state highway fund to the State Board2-5
of Examiners for the fiscal period beginning July 1, 2000, and ending June2-6
30, 2001, the sum of $681,914 for the purpose of meeting any deficiencies2-7
which may exist between the appropriated money of the Department of2-8
Motor Vehicles and Public Safety, the Transportation Services Authority2-9
and the Attorney General’s Office as fixed by the 70th session of the2-10
legislature and the requirements for salaries of classified and unclassified2-11
personnel of the Department of Motor Vehicles and Public Safety, the2-12
Transportation Services Authority and the Attorney General’s Office2-13
necessary under an adjusted pay plan, except those employees whose2-14
salaries have been retained, to become effective July 1, 2000.2-15
2. The State Board of Examiners, upon the recommendation of the2-16
Director of the Department of Administration, may allocate and disburse to2-17
the Department of Motor Vehicles and Public Safety, the Transportation2-18
Services Authority and the Attorney General’s Office out of the money2-19
appropriated by this section such sums of money as may from time to time2-20
be required, which when added to the money otherwise appropriated or2-21
available equals the amount of money required to meet and pay the salaries2-22
of the classified and unclassified employees of the Department of Motor2-23
Vehicles and Public Safety, the Transportation Services Authority and the2-24
Attorney General’s Office under the adjusted pay plan.2-25
Sec. 3. 1. To effect increases in salaries of approximately 2 percent,2-26
there is hereby appropriated from the state general fund to the State Board2-27
of Examiners for the fiscal period beginning July 1, 2000, and ending June2-28
30, 2001, the sum of $1,434,488 for the purpose of meeting any2-29
deficiencies which may be created between the appropriated money of the2-30
University and Community College System of Nevada as fixed by the 70th2-31
session of the legislature and the requirements for salaries of the classified2-32
personnel of the University and Community College System of Nevada2-33
necessary under the adjusted pay plan, except those employees whose2-34
salaries have been retained, to become effective July 1, 2000.2-35
2. The State Board of Examiners, upon the recommendation of the2-36
Director of the Department of Administration, may allocate and disburse to2-37
the University and Community College System of Nevada out of the money2-38
appropriated by this section such sums of money as may from time to time2-39
be required, which when added to the money otherwise appropriated or2-40
available equals the amount of money required to pay the salaries of the2-41
classified employees of the University and Community College System of2-42
Nevada under the adjusted pay plan.3-1
Sec. 4. To effect increases in salaries of approximately 2 percent, there3-2
is hereby appropriated from the state general fund to the legislative fund for3-3
the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2000, and ending June 30, 2001, the sum3-4
of $260,575 for the purpose of meeting any deficiencies which may be3-5
created between the appropriated money as fixed by the 70th session of the3-6
legislature and the requirements for salaries of the employees of the3-7
Legislative Counsel Bureau and of interim legislative operations, except3-8
those employees whose salaries have been retained, to become effective3-9
July 1, 2000.3-10
Sec. 5. The State Board of Examiners shall allocate from the amounts3-11
appropriated by section 1 of this act to the Tahoe Regional Planning3-12
Agency to provide for Nevada’s share of a salary increase, the same3-13
percentage granted to classified employees of the State of Nevada which3-14
take effect on July 1, 2000. The amounts transferred must not be utilized to3-15
increase an employee’s base salary unless the State of California provides3-16
the required 2 for 1 matching money. Any amounts provided to the Tahoe3-17
Regional Planning Agency should California not provide matching money3-18
must be utilized as a one-time salary bonus.3-19
Sec. 6. The approximate maximum salaries for the state officers and3-20
employees in the unclassified service of the state as provided in Senate Bill3-21
No. 554 of this session must be increased by 2 percent on July 1, 2000.3-22
Sec. 7. Any balance of the money appropriated by sections 1, 2 and 33-23
of this act must not be committed for expenditure after June 30, 2001, and3-24
reverts to the fund from which it was appropriated as soon as all payments3-25
of money committed have been made.3-26
Sec. 8. This act becomes effective on July 1, 2000.~
