SUMMARY—Provides temporarily that retired public employees may accept certain employment with University and Community College System of Nevada without affecting their retirement benefits and requires public employees’ retirement board to conduct study of effect on public employees’ retirement system of employment of retired public employees by public employers participating in system. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. A person who is a retired employee and who accepts1-2
employment as a member of the professional staff of the college of1-3
education of the University of Nevada, Reno, or the University of Nevada,1-4
Las Vegas, to teach a course of study or training is exempt from the1-5
provisions of subsections 1 and 2 of NRS 286.520 for the duration of that1-6
employment.1-7
Sec. 2. The public employees’ retirement board shall conduct a study1-8
of the effect on the public employees’ retirement system of the1-9
employment of retired public employees by public employers that1-10
participate in the public employees’ retirement system. The public1-11
employees’ retirement board shall report on the progress and findings of1-12
the study at each meeting of the interim retirement committee of the2-1
legislature and shall submit a final report of the study to the 71st session of2-2
the Nevada Legislature.2-3
Sec. 3. This act becomes effective on July 1, 1999, and expires by2-4
limitation on July 1, 2001.~
