ASSEMBLY CONCURRENT RESOLUTIONMemorializing former Nevada Legislator

and engineer Max J. Bennett.

1-1 Whereas, The members of this legislative body note with regret the

1-2 sad passing of former Nevada Legislator Max J. Bennett on September 19,

1-3 1998; and

1-4 Whereas, Max Bennett was born in the town of Duncan, Oklahoma,

1-5 on July 10, 1952; and

1-6 Whereas, Max Bennett attended East Central University in Ada,

1-7 Oklahoma, and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in mathematics and

1-8 in physics; and

1-9 Whereas, After moving to Nevada, Max Bennett joined the Clark

1-10 County Republican Party Central Committee, served on its Executive

1-11 Committee and was honored in 1994 with the Clark County GOP

1-12 "Leadership Award"; and

2-1 Whereas, In 1994, Max Bennett was elected to the Nevada Legislature

2-2 to represent Assembly District No. 14; and

2-3 Whereas, During Max Bennett’s term in the 68th session of the

2-4 Nevada Legislature, he received praise for his sincerity and hard work as a

2-5 member of the Assembly Standing Committees on Education and on

2-6 Government Affairs, in addition to his service as a Vice Chairman on the

2-7 Assembly Standing Committee on Natural Resources, Agriculture and

2-8 Mining; and

2-9 Whereas, One of Max Bennett’s special interests was working with the

2-10 Department of Education’s Educational Outreach Program; and

2-11 Whereas, Former Assemblyman Max Bennett is survived by two

2-12 daughters, Nicole of Biloxi, Mississippi, and Jennifer of Las Vegas, a son,

2-13 Matthew, of Blanchard, Oklahoma, his father, Jack Sr., of San Antonio,

2-14 Texas, and a brother, Jack Jr., of Countyline, Oklahoma; now, therefore, be

2-15 it

2-16 Resolved by the Assembly of the State of Nevada, the Senate

2-17 Concurring, That the members of the 70th session of the Nevada

2-18 Legislature extend their heartfelt condolences to the family of Max J.

2-19 Bennett; and be it further

2-20 Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly prepare and transmit

2-21 a copy of this resolution to Max Bennett’s children, Nicole, Jennifer and

2-22 Matthew.
