ASSEMBLY CONCURRENT RESOLUTION—Declaring the last week of June as Nevada
Amateur Radio Week in Nevada.

Whereas, When an emergency occurs, conventional systems of1-2
communications are often inoperative during the first few days after the1-3
emergency occurs; and1-4
Whereas, Before the conventional systems of communications can be1-5
restored, amateur radio operators are on the scene to provide1-6
communications and assistance; and1-7
Whereas, In Nevada, these operators are members of the State of1-8
Nevada Amateur Radio Emergency Service or the Radio Amateur Civil1-9
Emergency Service, and their service is completely voluntary; and1-10
Whereas, This year, the last week of June will be devoted toward final1-11
preparations for "Field Day," an operation designed to simulate an2-1
emergency situation and coordinate the efforts of amateur radio operators;2-2
and2-3
Whereas, "Field Day" will be held the last weekend of June in a2-4
remote location where power is supplied by either generators or batteries;2-5
now, therefore, be it2-6
Resolved by the Assembly of the State of Nevada, the Senate2-7
Concurring, That the members of the Legislature of the State of Nevada2-8
do hereby declare the last week of June to be Nevada Amateur Radio2-9
Week in honor of the many volunteers who generously donate their time2-10
and equipment to provide invaluable assistance during an emergency2-11
situation; and be it further2-12
Resolved, That the Nevada Legislature commends and congratulates2-13
the members of the State of Nevada Amateur Radio Emergency Service2-14
and the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service for their participation in2-15
"Field Day" and for their many hours of dedicated service to all Nevadans2-16
throughout the year.~
