ASSEMBLY CONCURRENT RESOLUTION—Urging the Division of Wildlife of the State
Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to consider certain factors when making
wildlife management decisions.

Whereas, Owners of private property and holders of water rights1-2
control significant amounts of the land and water utilized by the wildlife in1-3
the State of Nevada; and1-4
Whereas, Farmers and ranchers have acquired and owned major1-5
portions of the private property and water rights in this state for many1-6
years; and1-7
Whereas, These farmers and ranchers have purposely maintained their1-8
private property in such a manner as to sustain, enhance and increase the1-9
wildlife population of our state; and1-10
Whereas, In the arid desert environment of Nevada, owners of private1-11
property and holders of the water rights have been the last line of defense1-12
for wildlife during severe winters and times of drought, often providing the1-13
only available feed and water; and1-14
Whereas, The Division of Wildlife of the State Department of1-15
Conservation and Natural Resources recognizes, acknowledges and1-16
supports the invaluable contributions made by ranchers and farmers to the1-17
enhancement, survival and viability of Nevada’s wildlife; and1-18
Whereas, The residents of Nevada, through their elected1-19
representatives, governmental entities and agencies, recognize the vital1-20
contributions made by owners of private property, persons who have1-21
obtained permits to use public lands and all other users of Nevada’s lands1-22
for the continued viability of our wildlife; and2-1
Whereas, This legislature recognizes that it is necessary for all owners2-2
and users of land in Nevada and the managers of our wildlife to work2-3
together to ensure that we continue to sustain a healthy wildlife population2-4
in the State of Nevada; now, therefore, be it2-5
Resolved by the Assembly of the State of Nevada, the Senate2-6
Concurring, That the members of the Nevada Legislature hereby urge2-7
the Division of Wildlife of the State Department of Conservation and2-8
Natural Resources to recognize, promote and actively support the2-9
contributions made by owners of private property and holders of water2-10
rights to the health, vitality and continued viability of Nevada’s wildlife2-11
and to consider these factors when making wildlife management decisions;2-12
and be it further2-13
Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly prepare and transmit2-14
a copy of this resolution to the Administrator of the Division of Wildlife of2-15
the State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the2-16
Board of Wildlife Commissioners.~
