ASSEMBLY CONCURRENT RESOLUTIONUrging the Division of Wildlife of the State

Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to consider certain factors when making

wildlife management decisions.

1-1 Whereas, Owners of private property and holders of water rights

1-2 control significant amounts of the land and water utilized by the wildlife in

1-3 the State of Nevada; and

1-4 Whereas, Farmers and ranchers have acquired and owned major

1-5 portions of the private property and water rights in this state for many

1-6 years; and

1-7 Whereas, These farmers and ranchers have purposely maintained their

1-8 private property in such a manner as to sustain, enhance and increase the

1-9 wildlife population of our state; and

1-10 Whereas, In the arid desert environment of Nevada, owners of private

1-11 property and holders of the water rights have been the last line of defense

1-12 for wildlife during severe winters and times of drought, often providing the

1-13 only available feed and water; and

1-14 Whereas, The Division of Wildlife of the State Department of

1-15 Conservation and Natural Resources recognizes, acknowledges and

1-16 supports the invaluable contributions made by ranchers and farmers to the

1-17 enhancement, survival and viability of Nevada’s wildlife; and

1-18 Whereas, The residents of Nevada, through their elected

1-19 representatives, governmental entities and agencies, recognize the vital

1-20 contributions made by owners of private property, persons who have

1-21 obtained permits to use public lands and all other users of Nevada’s lands

1-22 for the continued viability of our wildlife; and

2-1 Whereas, This legislature recognizes that it is necessary for all owners

2-2 and users of land in Nevada and the managers of our wildlife to work

2-3 together to ensure that we continue to sustain a healthy wildlife population

2-4 in the State of Nevada; now, therefore, be it

2-5 Resolved by the Assembly of the State of Nevada, the Senate

2-6 Concurring, That the members of the Nevada Legislature hereby urge

2-7 the Division of Wildlife of the State Department of Conservation and

2-8 Natural Resources to recognize, promote and actively support the

2-9 contributions made by owners of private property and holders of water

2-10 rights to the health, vitality and continued viability of Nevada’s wildlife

2-11 and to consider these factors when making wildlife management decisions;

2-12 and be it further

2-13 Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly prepare and transmit

2-14 a copy of this resolution to the Administrator of the Division of Wildlife of

2-15 the State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the

2-16 Board of Wildlife Commissioners.
