ASSEMBLY CONCURRENT RESOLUTIONCommending the Nevada Board of Medical

Examiners for 100 years of dedicated service ensuring that the residents of the

State of Nevada receive quality medical care.

Whereas, The Nevada Legislature created the Board of Medical

Examiners by statute enacted on March 15, 1899; and

Whereas, The Board of Medical Examiners has served the residents of

the State of Nevada for 100 years, fulfilling its legislative mandate to

ensure, as far as possible, that only competent persons practice medicine in

the State of Nevada; and

Whereas, The Board of Medical Examiners recommended, and the

Nevada Legislature enacted, a major revision to chapter 630 of the Nevada

Revised Statutes in 1985, creating a modern medical practice act which is a

model for the nation; and

Whereas, The Board of Medical Examiners has performed its duties in

protecting the public health, safety and welfare of its residents as a self-

funded regulatory agency of the State of Nevada, at no expense to the

taxpayers for 100 years; and

Whereas, The present Board of Medical Examiners, composed of nine

members, including six physicians and three members of the public, who

are all appointed by the Governor, celebrates the 100th anniversary of the

Board of Medical Examiners on March 15, 1999; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the Assembly of the State of Nevada, the Senate

Concurring, That the members of the Nevada Legislature do hereby

congratulate and commend the Board of Medical Examiners for providing

100 years of dedicated service ensuring that the residents of the State of

Nevada receive quality medical care; and be it further

Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly prepare and transmit a

copy of this resolution to Governor Kenny C. Guinn and Arne D.

Rosencrantz, President of the Board of Medical Examiners.
