Amend the bill as a whole by deleting sections 1 and 2 and adding new sections designated sections 1 and 2, following the enacting clause, to read as follows:

"Section 1. Chapter 405 of NRS is hereby amended by adding thereto a new section to read as follows:

A gate that:

1. Operates by mechanical power; and

2. Provides "access for traffic" as that term is defined in the Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., UL Standard for Safety 325,

must comply with the requirements of the UL Standard for Safety 325, as published on September 18, 1998, and effective on March 1, 2000.

Sec. 2. This act becomes effective on March 1, 2000.".

Amend the title of the bill to read as follows:

"AN ACT relating to gates that provide access for traffic; requiring that certain gates comply with certain safety standards; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.".

Amend the summary of the bill to read as follows:

"SUMMARY—Requires that certain gates comply with certain safety standards. (BDR 35-226)".
