AN ACT making an appropriation to "Kids Count" for determination of the programs for

children that lack funding; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

Whereas, Identifying the educational needs of children in this state is

essential to ensure that the children receive the best possible education; and

Whereas, To ensure that successful educational programs for children

continue to be available, it is necessary to develop priorities for funding

these programs based on the current educational needs of the children in

this state; and

Whereas, "Kids Count" is an organization that conducts research and

compiles statistics relating to the available programs for children and sets

priorities for funding such programs based on their findings; now,

therefore,

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

1-1 Section 1. There is hereby appropriated from the state general fund to

1-2 "Kids Count" for development of statistics to determine priorities for

1-3 funding programs for children:

1-4 For the fiscal year 1999-2000 $50,000

1-5 For the fiscal year 2000-2001 $100,000

1-6 Sec. 2. Any balance of the sums appropriated by section 1 of this act

1-7 remaining at the end of the respective fiscal years must not be committed

2-1 for expenditure after June 30 of the respective fiscal years and reverts to the

2-2 state general fund as soon as all payments of money committed have been

2-3 made.

2-4 Sec. 3. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
