AN ACT relating to vehicles; revising the definition of "used vehicle" as used in certain provisions concerning the sale of certain used vehicles; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

1-1 Section 1. Chapter 482 of NRS is hereby amended by adding thereto

1-2 the provisions set forth as sections 2 and 3 of this act.

1-3 Sec. 2. As used in NRS 482.3666 to 482.36667, inclusive, and

1-4 section 3 of this act, unless the context otherwise requires, the words and

1-5 terms defined in NRS 482.3666 and section 3 of this act have the

1-6 meanings ascribed to them in those sections.

1-7 Sec. 3. "Used vehicle" means a vehicle that:

1-8 1. When manufactured, was equipped with an odometer; and

1-9 2. Has a manufacturer’s gross vehicle weight rating of 14,000

1-10 pounds or less.

1-11 Sec. 4. NRS 482.132 is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-12 482.132 ["Used] Except as otherwise provided in section 3 of this act,

1-13 "used vehicle" means a vehicle that:

1-14 1. Has been registered with the department or has been registered with

1-15 the appropriate agency of authority of any other state, the District of

1-16 Columbia, any territory or possession of the United States or foreign state,

1-17 province or country; and

1-18 2. If equipped with an odometer, registers more than 2,500 miles on

1-19 the odometer.

2-1 Sec. 5. NRS 482.3666 is hereby amended to read as follows:

2-2 482.3666 [As used in NRS 482.3666 to 482.36667, inclusive, unless

2-3 the context otherwise requires, "drivetrain"] "Drivetrain" means those

2-4 components and systems within a motor vehicle that transfer power from

2-5 the engine of the vehicle to the wheels of the vehicle, including, without

2-6 limitation, a transmission, driveshaft, torque converter, differential,

2-7 universal joint and constant velocity joint.
