AN ACT making an appropriation to the North Las Vegas Library District for construction of a second library and certain architectural and engineering services; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

Whereas, The population of the City of North Las Vegas has more than

doubled within the last 7 years; and

Whereas, There is no library available for the residents of the

northwest section of the City of North Las Vegas who have experienced

this phenomenal growth; and

Whereas, The North Las Vegas Library District is one of two districts

in southern Nevada with only one library facility; and

Whereas, The existing library facility in the City of North Las Vegas

cannot meet the needs of this increased population; now, therefore,

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

1-1 Section 1. There is hereby appropriated from the state general fund to

1-2 the North Las Vegas Library District:

1-3 1. The sum of $982,550 for the completion of the construction of the

1-4 second library in the City of North Las Vegas.

2-1 2. The sum of $320,000 for architectural and engineering services for

2-2 plans, specifications and construction administration.

2-3 Sec. 2. Any remaining balance of the appropriations made by section 1

2-4 of this act must not be committed for expenditure after the projects are

2-5 completed and reverts to the state general fund as soon as all payments of

2-6 money committed have been made.

2-7 Sec. 3. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
