AN ACT relating to state financial administration; prohibiting the consideration of any unobligated money of a school district as a revenue source in the preparation of the state budget; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

1-1 Section 1. Chapter 353 of NRS is hereby amended by adding thereto a

1-2 new section to read as follows:

1-3 In preparing the state budget for each biennium, the chief shall not

1-4 consider as revenue available for use by a school district any money in

1-5 any fund of the school district that remains unobligated at the end of a

1-6 fiscal year.

1-7 Sec. 2. NRS 353.155 is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-8 353.155 As used in NRS 353.150 to 353.246, inclusive, and section 1

1-9 of this act, "chief" means the chief of the budget division of the department

1-10 of administration.

1-11 Sec. 3. This act becomes effective on July 1, 1999.
